Tsendze Bushveld Camp’s accommodation is exclusive to campers, caravanners and campervanners as it has camp sites only.
The sites are laid out in an oval shape, with the facilities in the centre, and lots of trees around them, such as leadwood, mopani and apple leaf. Make sure you spend some time looking for birds in and around the foliage while you’re there!
If you’re not staying at the rest camp, it’s still open to day visitors, so you may visit it before the gates close.
The rest camp is very close to Mopani Rest Camp, at just 8km (5 miles) away. If you’re staying at the bushveld camp, you have to go to Mopani’s reception to check in and pick up the keys.
The closest gate to the bushveld camp is Giriyondo Gate, 48km (30 miles) away, but you’d only use it if you’re coming and going via Limpopo National Park in Mozambique. Giriyondo Gate takes you straight to that park.
Otherwise, if you’re arriving from within South Africa, the closest gate to the camp is Phalaborwa Gate, at a distance of 71km (44 miles).
The bushveld camp has a selection of facilities to make camping there more amenable, such as:
- Communal fridges – very useful in the hot and humid summer weather if you don’t have your own portable fridge/freezer
- Communal kitchens
- Hot water
- Toilet and shower blocks
Despite these facilities, do note that there’s no electricity supply at any of the camp sites, nor is there any shop from which to buy provisions. If you do need supplies, you need to get them from Mopani Rest Camp.
